The Good Food Box is the affordable way to keep your fridge stocked with fruits and vegetables that are good for you, good for your family and good for your community. For over 30 years the Good Food Box has supported FoodShare in animating community food programs across Toronto. The Good Food Box program is a subsidized fresh produce distribution program in Toronto that features locally grown seasonal products whenever possible as well as international favourites, at a price that is more affordable than retail stores. In May 2016, our Toronto office became a location for this program. Staff can purchase food boxes. The Good Food Box is the affordable way to keep your fridge stocked with fruits and vegetables that are good for you, good for your family and good for your community.

During COVID-19, York Region Food Network is committed to getting healthy local food on your table. One of the best ways we are able to do this is by expanding our Good Food Box program.
United Way of Greater Toronto, funded in part by the Government of Canada, have allowed us to continue to offer our Good Food Boxes twice a month until Spring 2020 through their Emergency Community Support Fund.

Thank you!

York Region Food Network’s Good Food Box program is open to everyone. We work with local suppliers and farmers to purchase good quality fresh produce at a wholesale price and then we pass the wholesale price along to you. This program is a great way to support local suppliers and farmers.

What to expect from YRFN’s Good Food Boxes

  • We are expanding our Good Food Box program and our produce boxes will now be available for pickup on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month. Orders and payment are due one week prior to each pickup date.
  • Contents of our Good Food Box will change each time. We aim to have 7-8 different types of veggies and fruit in each box. In April our Good Food Box contained 5 lb potatoes, 2 lb carrots, 2 lb onions, tomatoes, bell peppers, English cucumber, mushrooms and either oranges or yams.
  • York Region Food Network feels that everyone needs a little break right now so we are subsidizing the cost our Good Food Boxes. This means that York Region Food Network pays our suppliers and farmers $18.00 per Good Food Box to offer more variety to you, but we continue to charge you just $16 per box, which includes PayPal fees.
  • These are unusual times and although we can’t typically offer Good Food Box delivery, we know that there are a lot of people right now who cannot leave their house for a variety of reasons. If you need your Good Food Box delivered, please reach out to us at 4moreinfo@yrfn.ca before ordering to discuss options.
  • If you are in a position to contribute to help get healthy local affordable food on the tables of our community, please consider donating to York Region Food Network.

** The box contents change monthly and may include: potatoes, carrots, onions, apples, cabbage, cucumbers, parsnips, peppers, celery, melons, garlic, squash, strawberries, leeks, broccoli, cauliflower, eggplant, corn. Box contents depends on seasonal availability **
